Depends on your budget and the angle you want to shoot. I've used Nikon for 5+ years, so I know the lenses left and right.

If the money is not an issue, you want to buy these lenses.

    1. 17-35 2.8
    2. 28-70
    3. 70-200 VR
    4. 85mm 1.4
    5. 28mm 1.4
    6. 45mm 2.8
    7. 105mm 2.0 DC
    8. 135mm 2.0 DC
    9. 180mm 2.8
    10. 200mm 4.0 Macro

If the budget is an issue, then..

    18-35mm
    50mm 1.8
    85 1.8
    80-200 2.8

I'd avoid any lenses that covers an extreme angle. But then, that's just me.

12-24mm is also very nice lens.

budget DEFINITELY is an issue!!! hahaha....T.T
that is why i'm planning on buying a 50mm 1.4. would you say 85mm is better than 50mm??

50mm produces rather dull photos, but it's very good lens to start out with. If you are starting out, then I'd go with 50mm 1.8 then see if this is your primary angle. If it is, it's not too late to sell your old 50mm 1.8 and get a 50mm 1.4. Optically, they both produce very good pictures.

I think most people do not know what angle they shoot most. Once you shoot a lot, you started to get a feel for an angle that you usually shoot with. Then, investing a good lens in that angle is a good idea. I'd avoid buying any lens with top quality when you find yourself not using at all or rarely.

So in short, why not buy 50mm 1.8 first and see how it is? Then you can either replace it with 50mm 1.4 or buy additional 85mm 1.8.
